Müjgan Tunç Yücel graduated from the Faculty of Law at Marmara University. In 2002, she completed her master’s degree in Private Law at the Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Private Law, Marmara University with a thesis titled “Acquisition of New Property in Turkish-Swiss Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law.”
She began her doctoral studies at the Institute of Social Sciences of Marmara University in 2003 and, in 2006, conducted part of her doctoral research in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, at the Institute of German and Foreign Civil Procedure Law of the Faculty of Law at Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg. She completed her Ph.D. at the Institute of Social Sciences of Marmara University in 2009 with a dissertation titled “Enforcement Proceedings for Bank Claims by Way of Realization of Mortgaged Immovable Property.”
Between May 1999 and October 2013, Prof. Tunç Yücel served as a research assistant and assistant professor at the Faculty of Law of Marmara University. Her associate professorship thesis, titled “Provisional Measures and Taking of Evidence in Arbitration under the Turkish Code of Civil Procedure (HMK),” was partially prepared at Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg and the University of Regensburg in Germany, and was published in October 2013. She was awarded the title of Associate Professor by the Inter-University Council on October 1, 2014.
Since February 2015, Prof. Tunç Yücel has served as the Director of the Institute of Social Sciences at Istanbul Medipol University. In the same year, she was also appointed to the Scientific Commission on Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law, established within the General Directorate of Laws of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye, where she continues to serve.
In April 2020, Prof. Tunç Yücel was appointed Professor in the Department of Civil Procedure and Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law at the Faculty of Law of Istanbul Medipol University. The work she submitted for appointment to professorship is titled “The Effects of the Concordat Moratorium on Creditors.”
Prof. Tunç Yücel has authored numerous studies and articles in various fields of private law, particularly in civil procedure, enforcement, and bankruptcy law. She has also been registered with the Istanbul Bar Association since 2014.
