Gary Born is a worldwide known international arbitration lawyer and academician. Considered as a leading authority in the field of international arbitration, Born has acted as counsel and arbitrator in more than 675 arbitration cases. Born has also served as the President of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) between 2015 and 2021. Born also still continues his positions in several other arbitration centres such as his membership of the International Advisory Board of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and his membership of Global Adviory Board of the New York International Arbitration Center (NYIAC).
Born is a partner at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, where he continues to lead the International Arbitration team. Also known for his academic work, Born has given lectures on international arbitration at prestigious universities such as Harvard University, Stanford University, and Georgetown University. His books “International Commercial Arbitration” and “International Arbitration: Law and Practice” are accepted as the fundamental reference sources in the field of international arbitration.
He has received the first “Advocate of the Year” award by the Global Arbitration Review and has been selected the “Best International Arbitration Practitioner” by the Client Choice and “London’s International Arbitration Lawyer of the Year” by the Best Lawyers for several times.
