This year, Gürhan Aydın, Nazım Can Işıktaç, Ceren Çakır Akgün and Ekin Tuna, members of the Executive Committee of Young ISTAC, have represented Young ISTAC at the Third Global Conference of the Co-Chairs’ Circle (“CCC”), which is a platform for the exchange between the representatives of under 40 groups of numerous international arbitration institutions, on 18-19 May 2018, in Rome. Currently, 30 young arbitration groups participate in the CCC.
This year’s conference was hosted by ARBIT (Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR), in partnership with Università Roma Tre, AIA Associazione Italiana per l’Arbitrato ve CAM. Panels regarding future of arbitration, current role of litigation in settlement of cross-border disputes and effect of party appointed experts were held in the all day long event. Professionals from several arbitration institutions and young lawyers have shared their experiences and knowledge with the participants in these panels.
While the panels have drawn intense attention of the participants, Young ISTAC was presented to and has joined the Co-Chairs’ Circle at the meeting held after the conference. Thus, yet another step has been taken to realize one of Young ISTAC’s goals to enhance international visibility of Istanbul Arbitration Centre.
